The Main Attraction
If we are not careful we can be easily distracted from the good things by gazing at bad things. We can miss the beauty of the sunrise looking at the horrific footage of tsunami damage in Japan. We can miss the new song of birds in the morning because we are listening to the mournful cries of Mothers who've lost children in senseless suicide bombings. We can miss the heroic deeds of men and women willing to give their lives in a nuclear facility in Japan because we are captivated by the disgusting murders of a serial killer. We can miss the scenic regions of peace because we are disturbed by the smoke filled streets of Egypt, Libya, and Syria. The fact that we are distracted is not a slight to our human attention span; it is understandable that we are less attracted to the good when so much bad is taking place in our world. Who can smell the sweet scent of a rose when the stench of oil-spill dead fish are everywhere, as they were for the patrons of TX and LA for quite some time last year? Who can stare too long at a new suit or elegant dress hanging on a store rack or worn by a model when CNN or Fox news displays internet pictures of half naked children starving to death in foreign lands?
Jesus is the main attraction for a hurting world. He calls for the sinner. He reaches for the downtrodden. He soothes the hurting heart with comforting words. He changes the atmosphere for the storm riddled soul of tragedy and dismay. He loves the unlovable. He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. He gladly purchases you from the sinner’s world to live forever in his unblemished kingdom. Why not let Jesus become the main attraction of your life? Why not be drawn away from poor substitutes and sad cheapening relics of powerless religion? Why not have a relationship with the Creator who became the created, and let him create for you a new life?

I like how you mention He gives grace to the humble. How many people claim this GIFT to themselves and never stop to see if there name tag is on this GIFT or not? They just take it. There is a fine line between taking and receiving. They first must be given by God personally then one can receive it. A man cannot give them, one prayer does not qualify for it, only God chooses whom He will have mercy on and my Bible says He will only give to the humble.
